VEX Servo Conversion

The VEX robotics kit comes with 3 motors and one servo. I find the motors basically useless for my applications. I would prefer more servos. If you want the schnazy VEX servo mounting you need a VEX servo ($20 new). That's pretty lame IMO, considering you can get an equal quality servo for $6. I guess it's time for some hacking :) I have successfully installed the guts from a Futaba servo into the case for a VEX motor. There is some modification of the case involved as well as soldering / de-soldering of the servo motors from the servo boards. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures from the first attempt, so a how-to is kind of out of the question at this point. If I come across another VEX motor module, or decide to convert my other 2 modules, I will outline the process. Just know, it's not easy, but it is possible. [[Category:VEX Robotics]]
